Diaphragm much older than expected

Caseids are “mammal-like” reptiles that lived about 300-250 million years ago. They had a barrel-shaped trunk, but scientists have struggled to realize how did these reptiles breathed. New calculations have revealed some surprising information that suggests that these animals may have used a diaphragm much like those humans have today.
